Youth 2010-2020

These photographs depict young people in their teenage years, all looking directly into the camera. The images were taken between 2010 and 2020 and reflect a period of change. In covid I stopped.

The series is now being continued to document the development and transformation in their environment.

The Ruhr area, once a hub of industrial culture, is undergoing a transformation. From a working-class region primarily shaped by coal mining to a modern world with tech centers and new ways of living. The people here are experiencing a significant change that is reshaping society and community. This change is visible everywhere, especially through the project at Phoenix, whose spirit has been completely reinvented with a lake.

The last shift in December 2018 is also impressively documented. These images capture the end of an era before everything continued to evolve. The photographs show not only the faces but also the spirit of a country in transition — from its mining past.

Portraits of young girls in Essen in front of Zeche Zollverein often showcase the energy and diversity that define this generation. They capture individuality and character, reflecting the essence and dreams visible in their faces. Such images are not just a snapshot in time but also an expression of identity here in the Ruhr area. here you see only a smal cutout.

Young Women- Youth – A Look into the Future from Gescher, Palästine, Israel, Graz, Essen, Dortmund. Please dont hesitate to contact me for more infos. Between 2010 and 2020, I had a project named Daughters. I photograph and interview young women aged 14 to 16 also 2012 also in my hometown of Gescher.

My focus was on the theme of the future – what moves these girls, what they dream of, and what hopes they hold for their lives. The photos depict genuine teenagers from a small, lively town. These are friendly, unfiltered faces—no fake filters or Instagram perfection, just authentic young women showing their true personalities. Many of them love sports, especially football, and they live out their energy and joy openly..

These girls are vibrant beings, full of enthusiasm and innocence. They represent a generation that is still unspoiled, pursuing their dreams and looking to the future with confidence. It's wonderful to see how they maintain their identity in a small town while remaining open to new experiences.

... a young generation full of hope, actively shaping their future. They show that true beauty lies in authenticity— in real faces, real dreams, and real people.
